Dr. Ian Martin and his team at Brisbane Weight Loss Surgery have been helping patients recapture their good health and enjoyment of life for over 20 years. Our bariatric specialists understand that surgery is a significant step and our patients need ongoing support to achieve their weight loss goals.

Dr. Ian Martin is a specialist Upper Gastrointestinal and Bariatric Surgeon based in Brisbane who has built up a busy practice over the past two decades. Dr. Martin treats patients with a range of conditions, including obesity, hernia, reflux, and gallstones, and specializes in bariatric, laparoscopic and robotic surgery techniques. He received his Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery from the University of Queensland in 1995.

Dr. Martin has published many articles in his area of interest and is actively involved in ongoing research and publications. He performs regular live surgical tuition to Australian and New Zealand surgeons in the field of laparoscopic surgery.

His results are recorded by the national Bariatric Surgery Registry (BSR). Dr. Martin has achieved a surgeon of Excellence Award for his work as a Bariatric Surgeon at The Wesley Hospital. Dr. Martin also runs regular laparoscopic bariatric masterclasses for surgeons from Australia and New Zealand. He operates at The Wesley Hospital which is a Bariatric Centre of Excellence - the only centre in Brisbane to achieve this award.
