Harsha Chandraratna was born in Sri Lanka and moved to Tasmania (1974) and then to Perth (1980). He went to high school in Perth and is a graduate of the University of Western Australia.
He began surgical training in 1993 and was made a Fellow of the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons in 2001. He undertook post fellowship training in Perth and then Leeds (UK) in Liver and Kidney Transplantation as well as Bariatric Surgery.
He began private practice in Perth in 2003 and currently consults in Murdoch, Subiaco and Mandurah. He operates at St John of God Hospitals Murdoch and Subiaco. The main focus of his surgical practice is bariatric, hernia and gallbladder surgery.
Harsha is currently a trainer for the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons and Associate Professor of Notre Dame University (Fremantle).
Harsha understands that there is more to surgery than just technical skills and hopefully that will become apparent to you when you meet him.
