After completing his surgical training in Perth and obtaining FRACS in 1999, Dr Padovan spent a further five years subspecialty training in the USA. This included working at the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center, the leading Minimally Invasive Surgery Centre in the United States.

Emerge Surgical, formerly known as Perth Bariatric Centre was founded by Dr Gordon Padovan following his return to Australia in 2005. His goal was to build a weight loss surgery practice that would provide a premium level of care to patients who are contemplating having Laparoscopic Sleeve Gastrectomy, Laparoscopic Gastric Bypass, SIPS procedure, Laparoscopic Adjustable Gastric Band.

Emerge Surgical has been set up as a multi-disciplinary bariatric weight loss centre dedicated to achieving the best possible results. We have grown such that we now operate on hundreds of patients each year, and manage the long-term care of thousands of men and women who have undergone Bariatric Surgery procedures.

Dr Padovan also looks after post surgery issues (excess skin removal procedures including tummy tuck and arm lifts), and performs a large amount of revisional surgery (removal of band, band to sleeve, etc.) and of recent, offers the SIPS procedure.
